Robert L. Withers (Master of Divinity, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary) is the principal of CompassDynamics.
Bob has enjoyed callings in both the marketplace and in pastoral ministry. In the former he served as CFO for one of the largest closely held corporations in the Mid-Atlantic region as well as COO for firms in the property management and development business. His business specialty is retooling organizations, including the revamping of corporate culture.
Bob’s extensive organizational experience also includes the recruitment, training and mentoring of executives and managers
Bob has been involved in teaching, preaching and pastoral ministry for a number of years, working with people from virtually every Christian tradition and within many ethnic groups.
In addition to pastoring in Massachusetts and Virginia, Bob served as administrator of The Mockler Center for Faith and Ethics in the Workplace at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He has also served as associate director of Needle’s Eye Ministries, Richmond, VA, an outreach to the business community and as interim director of The Marketplace Network, Boston, MA.
The principles contained in his seminar, The Potter’s Wheel, Spiritual Formation in the Workplace have been presented to executives and churches and have been applied to corporate environments.
Whether in business or in pastoral ministry Bob holds that we can live life one of two ways, either by using a weathervane for guidance or a compass. Most people and organizations, he holds, use a weathervane – his passion is to teach people to use a compass.
Bob and his wife, Vickie (a C.P.A.), live in the Richmond Virginia area with their two dogs, Lina and Lily, numerous deer and other critters. They have two daughters and seven grandchildren. Bob and Vickie enjoy gardening, history, travel and most of all being together.
