à Know Your Church Analysis: Consisting of forty elements of church life. This includes:
ü The history of your church. Its “God story” in order to put your current stage of church-life in perspective.
ü Your “church culture.” Every group of people has a culture, whether it is a Kiwanis Club, a business, a family or a church. This encompasses internal and external communications, how decisions are made, and how conflict is processed and resolved. All too often churches call pastors who are not compatible with their culture, resulting in heartache and misunderstanding on both sides.
ü The financial health of your church. Jesus talked more about money than any other subject; He did this because nothing reveals the heart the way money does, it is a barometer of spiritual life.
à Explore the Biblical elements of church life and where your local church senses God’s direction. The church exists for three reasons: to worship God, to edify the Body of Christ, and to proclaim the Gospel. How does your church fulfill its mission? What does your church value? How does it live these values? How can your church better respond to God’s direction?
à Development of a church profile. Most church profiles are superficial, thereby providing the pastoral candidate with little realistic information.
à Development of a pastoral profile. What type of pastor do you need in this stage of your church life?
