Resources for Pastoral Candidates
à Charting the Course – The Pastoral Search Process. This is the most comprehensive volume available on the pastoral search process written for pastors and associates. This will coach you on what they don’t teach you in seminary. Its combination of theological perspective and practical thinking covers areas such as:
o Developing a search theology.
o Crafting a candidate profile that communicates who you are and that will stand out from the crowd.
o The interview process.
o How to approach compensation unapologetically.
o The transition process.
à Charting the Course Workbook for Pastoral Candidates – designed to assist the candidate in charting the course to a healthy and long-term church relationship.
o To be used in conjunction with the book.
o Reflective questions to develop your navigational points.
o Checklists for your profile, interviews and compensation.
à Resume/Candidate Profile critique – Please note – there is no charge for candidate consultation services – this is a ministry.
o A written critique of your resume/profile. Unlike many services that offer critiques, we will not only look at the quality of your written presentation, but we will look at the Biblical and theological perspectives included in your presentation. Our goal is for you to have a Biblically-based approach to the search process. For more information on this service please click here.
o Please note, we do not offer resume/profile writing services. We will coach you through the process via a critique but we will not write your presentation for you. It is our belief that people in ministry should be able to communicate and that your style and mode of communication is vital to the process.
à One to one consultation/coaching.
o We are available for telephone coaching and can tailor the scope of this to your individual requirements.
o We are available for personal meetings with candidates and spouses and can coordinate housing for those traveling to our area. We are located in the northern section of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
à Church profile critique.
o We can take a “second look” at church profiles for you and provide you with a list of questions for the prospective church. This may be especially helpful if you are preparing for an interview with a church.
